Managing Director of SPIN Worldwide
Formerly an award-winning journalist, Jose Raymond is currently the Managing Director of SPIN, a communications agency which was incorporated in 2016. Current clients include Red Card Group, SAFRA Toa Payoh and Singapore Table Tennis Association. SPIN was also the appointed agency for the 27th Commonwealth Agriculture Conference 2016 which was held in Singapore.
Prior to SPIN, Jose was the Vice-President of Corporate Affairs of global pulp and paper giant Asia Pulp and Paper, and served in that capacity during the company’s most tumultuous period in terms of global communications and stakeholder engagement.
Before Asia Pulp and Paper, Jose was the Senior Director of Communications and Stakeholder management at the Singapore Sports Hub.
His previous appointments include helming the Singapore Environment Council as its Chief Executive Officer from September 2011 to December 2014.
He has also served as a press secretary to Dr Vivian Balakrishnan at the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.
While he was at the Singapore Sports Council (now Sport Singapore), his appointment was a Deputy Director of Media Relations and Social Media. While he was there, he was also appointed the head of communications and IT in charge of the 1st Asian Youth Games Singapore 2009 and was credited for strategising, formulating and executing a complete media and broadcast strategy for the inaugural Games. Other roles he undertook while he was at the Singapore Sports Council was Press Secretary to Games Village Mayor Teo Ser Luck during the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, and was Singapore’s Head of Media Relations and Attache at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.
Prior to the civil service, Jose was a journalist at the Straits Times and Mediacorp. He was Mediacorp’s Journalist of the Year in 2006 and also won the Story of the Year in 2007. In 2005, he picked up the S-League’s Story of the Year award during its annual awards programme.
Jose is also currently a Vice-President (Finance) of the Singapore Swimming Association. He also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Chiam See Tong Sports Foundation.
